Delay in Police verificaiton for passport

Hi, I had applied for my docs at Thane passport office and got the receipt in the month of Mar-10 however till date i.e. 4th july10 my status shows 'Police verification pending' with the Rabale police station. I have personally been there so many times at the Police station but each time they make some or other excuse. I am now fed up with this. What should i do to expedite it?
