Post Office East Tambaram
Nomination not filled

Sir,

I had opened a PPF account in Feb. I had filled up the nomination details then, and was told to get the entry done in the book after a few weeks. Since then, over the course of one year I have filled up the nomination form 5 times, submitted the account book more than 6 times, and it ends up with no action taken by the post office. On one occasion a clerk entered the details on a computer and said it was done. Luckily, I happened to look and realised that it was blank in the nomination column.. That was when the staff realised that they did not have the authority to locally enter this detail.

Its a very lackadaisical attitude. The postmaster complains of lack of staff, and is busy sorting out letters, instead of following up important matters. Sometimes he gives wrong information, in order to just keep us occupied.

If the post office were to function in such a manner its a total shame to the entire democratic system. The telephone sector has become professional in their functions. Wish the higher ups would have good leaders manning the post offices, instead of people who can do nothing but a postmans job. Hope we at East Tambaram, Chennai get a more efficient post master and therefore a more efficient postal service.
