Accepting Bills Seems a Problem for Postal Services Esp in the Rush Hours.

I was Standing in the Queue for Paying Tata Electicity Bill by Cheque on 23/08 at 12.45pm. Counter closes at 1.00pm as per information of Post Office. As the Que was long I waited for longer time than usual at 1.45pm I got my turn. The counter official refuse to accept the bill saying that time for accepting bill is till 1.00pm and that they announced at 1.00pm to clear any bill payment customer in the que. I went to check if Post Master could help. The officer said that counter already closed after proper announcement.

I called Tata Customer Service - got reply that the post offices accept bill till 1.30pm. There had been earlier problems with the boxes on Train Stations as reported by media. If Cheques dont reach in time customer is held responsible. Post office People are adamant adhereing to their Owm procedures. Tata Power seems to be least bothered for such complaints. They ask to lodge a formal complain. The complaints are not registered by Post Office unless Transaction Numbers are there.

Both Need to Put their Act Together and Free the Customers from such Hassles.
