Legal notice for steeling there services

My parents recieved legal notice that they been steeling dish tv services since 2005.however my parents has been using sky since 2005.it seems very doggy after 5 year they send the accumulated bill for 5 years.what they been doing all this time never contacted, no notice and suddenly presented bill.its a matter of worry if companies treat you like this not been using there service or swiched to another supplier.seems they been punishing you because you are not their customer anymore.
