Departmental stores/groceries
Collecting money in the form of gift

Shops & Trade

Dear Sir,

I would like to clarify a doubt. I have purchaed groceries in a leading departmental stores in Tamilnadu. I purchased rice, groceries, vegetables, oil etc., for Rs.1750. they have given Nimbooz - 350ml priced Rs.15. I refused to receive. But They said it is gift for the purchase of Rs.300/ and more. After coming home I verified the bill and seen the same gift item was charged in the bill. Usually they will add it in the bill and will be substracted. But they didn't do that. When I asked them, they replied it has been spread out in the other items in the form of discount. Is is correct? If it is explained to the customers that the customer would have refused to receive. is it not cheating, selling the items in the form of gift and collecting the money in the form of discount from the customer.

I would like to submit anyother information you reuire.

thanking you

nandagopal
