Phone number Problem

I am Aravind, I am from Chennai, I have Reliance landline connection in my company for last 6 months. My phone number is 044 30424444.

My Question:

Is it legal for ISP to give the same phone number for 2 different clients in 2 different cities?

Whole Story:

Reliance allocated my number (044 30424444) to Some other company called DEEMARK which is in Hydrabad (040 30424444).

So Those who dial 30424444 alone (without area code) from chennai will be connected to me.

And Those who dial 30424444 alone (without area code) from Hydrabad will be connected to DEEMARK.

Now the problem is if someone who don't have the STD facility in chennai but want to speak to hydrabad company, they will be diverted to me. They are asking for DEEMARK hydrabad.

My Problem:

I am getting lots of wrong calls asking for DEEMARK company.

Please help me with this issue. reliance says its possible. But i don't believe it. Thanks in advance.
