Maacha Kitchen had closed its operation in the month of November. Thereafter we did not receive any bills from office premises which had been vacated. In the last week of December, I received a call on my mobile from Airtel stating that an amount of approx. Rs. 3000 was due combined for both the telephone numbers. (We did not receive any documentation to confirm the same). This was merely conveyed to us telephonically by your representative.

Since, the establishment was closed down due to financial implications, we requested the person to settle the amount amicably so that we could make a final payment and the account be closed. After a long discussion with the person he asked us to pay a sum of Rs. 1000 in each account and informed us that the matter will be treated as settled and the account will be closed. We deposited a sum of Rs. 1000 in each account on 29th Dec, 09’ as informed by your representative and considered the matter settled from our side and the account closed.

However, after a period of over a month, we started getting calls at our residential address (which is also an airtel no.) and not only that there were calls which the airtel representatives made to other members of my family, ex-employees and clients harassing us over the phone. There were remarks passed to me and members of my family such as, ‘you are thieves’ and ‘what did you eat this morning’. This approach and attitude is totally unacceptable and illegal which is a breach of trust as you Airtel has misused and defamed me by abusing and talking ill about me and my company to all my clients and my ex-employees.

A representative of yours visited my house and called up the office where i had a conversation with Anita who again was very abusive and kept on stating wrong facts, the same facts were given to her and was told that since the account was settled by myself with the executive from my side there is no outstanding amount due to the company. She then threatend to disconnect my home connections, i.e. IP TV, Broadband and phone line.

Yesterday, on my return i found out that all the airtel services on my residential telephone number 0124-4034563 were disconnected. When i called up your toll free no. it was then that i was given to understand that my residential connection was disconnected due to the outstanding amount of Maacha Kitchen. I spoke at length to Mr Amil Nagpal, floor supervisor and explained the same, he confirmed that the payment had been received for Rs. 1000 for both the accounts and the version of the story i gave tallied with the information/notes he saw. He accepted that there were discrepancies on part of airtel and that they would make further enquires and look into matter.

The only lapse on our part was that we trusted your executives and did as directed and presumed that the matter is settled and the account is closed.

I have been advised By Mr Anil Nagpal to put in a formal application for the cancellation of the two accounts. Therefore, please consider this as my formal application for cancellation (which was to have been closed on 29th Dec) and also my formal complaint against the unprofessional and irresponsible behaviour of the Airtel or its subsidiaries. Since there is no linkage between the residential and the commercial telephone connection you are requested to restore the residential connection for which there is no outstanding due.
