Convert a post paid sim into prepaid

Dear sir,

I have a sim of aircel post paid in delhi. I want the number to now be transferred into pre paid. But aircel customer care and also at their showrooms are denieing that the number cant be converted into pre paid. Please help. The number is 9716040404
