Number wrongly disconnected

I purchased a prepaid No. (9650562051) from Airtel under lifetime validity. I found that this number was disconnected on 12.1.10. I immediately contacted Airtel.

They told me that a lifetime no. needs to be recharged for min. 200 Rs in 6 months and a call needs to be made in 90 days.

I challenged that and told them as per their records a call needs to be made in 180 days (not 90) and I have fulfilled both the above conditions.

After my sending them a scan of their conditions, they finally accepted that a call needs to be made in 180 days. Then they told me I never made a call during the last 180 days. I told Airtel, that I left India on August 14th and I did make many calls to say bye to my relatives on Aug 14. That is well within the required 180 days. Airtel officers categorically denied that I ever made any calls.

I challenged them once again by handing them a mp3 file recording of my call (I have a smartphone which records all calls) and also a list of other Airtel nos. that I called on August 14. Finally, after being challenged again, Airtel accepted that I did make those calls.

Then, they told me, the reason for disconnection was that my number is not under lifetime validity. So I needed to make calls in 90 days and not 180 days (which is for a lifetime validity number). I again challenged them and produced a scan copy of the Airtel welcome pack, in which it was printed along with the price of the SIM that this number is being offered by Airtel under lifetime validity. I reasoned out with them, that if there is error in their records, then I as a customer should not suffer, as I have proof of purchase of a lifetime validity number.

All this interaction has been of no avail. I have sent them mails on Jan 13, 15, 17, 24, 28, 29 – February 6, 7, 9, 10, 22 – March 10, 14 – April 7, 9 – May 9, 18, 21 and numerous phone calls.

I request the consumer court to step in. I have proof of all communication mentioned above.

I have faced a lot of inconvenience due to this number getting disconnected. I am an NRI and am mostly travelling out of India. This number was my only contact point, every time I landed into India. Also, this number was handed over to all my banks in India and Internationally, and I used to receive SMS on my financial transactions on this number. All that is lost now.

I want Airtel to immediately restore the same number to me and provide a me monetary compensation of 500000 Rupees due to wrongly disconnecting the number, as well as for all the inconvenience caused to me during the last 5 months where I had to write repeated emails to their customer care and make innumerable phone calls to plead for my case, though in reality, the faults lies with Airtel
