Abusing Calls from Airtel Employee/Vendo

Hi All,

I recently came across an incidence of phone abuse/harassment concerning Airtel employee/vendor and want to share the experience concerning breach of code of conduct by there employee/vendor. I lived in bangalore from start of 2009 to mid 2010 and used Airtel postpaid number 9663321008 (Paid 500 as security) but as my work required I had shifted back to delhi, I remember making my final bill payment but can't confirm if I had settled the account for this mobile number.

After 13 month, I get a call from 8050379602 and found a lady, Jenny, who claims to be an Airtel banerghatta office employee, on the other end and she apprised me that I have 2100INR balance for above mentioned Mobile Number and need to pay this amount immediately. I asked for the breakup or details for the charges and she denied stating that they can't produce bill or breakup chanrges for any bill older than 6 months therefore I can not verify the charges as well as I tried calling customer care and found that there are no details for this number in system. After first call, I gave Jenny my emailId requesting her to send details that I need to make payment on Airtel behalf, so that I can verify she is making correct claims, which she also agreed to

.But everything changed when I received call while going to my office yesterday, She called and in strong words asked me to make payment and when i asked if she had sent the mail on airtel behalf she started abusing me stating that If I didn't make the payment by EOD yesterday, she will pick the number from my caller list (number I called and people who called me) and will send a message that I am a cheat and have defaulted on my payment. When I asked to handover the call to her superior she greeted me with further abuse and at one point compare me with people who left their wife after one year etc and abuse continued with such taunts. I asked her following question but didn't get any direction/answer for them

1) Why airtel hadn't contacted me in last 13 months even once if any payment was pending? I have nmot changed my email-id which was registered for above number.

2) What will happen to my security amount?

3) If I made the payment how I will get the final closure on this so I don't have to come cross such incidence again.

I can't believe that Airtel can stoop to such low and they have breached their own code of conduct, mentioned on their own website and want to remind that in case if the lady take any action as mentioned by her, this is a clear case of breach of confidentiality and image tarnishing by Airtel.

I have been using airtel services for more than 7 years and have not faced such a terryfying incident before though i know i might not have settled my account before leaving bangalore in hurry

but I am not the only culprit as company failed to contact me via e-mail/phone in last 13 months.

I am ready to pay all my dues but need details and proper closure and Only one request "STOP Harassing".
