3G connectivity

I purchased Airtel sim card 3 days ago. I needed 3G services for internet access so I activated 3G services on my cell. My 3G services were started but still when I was trying to access the internet it was getting connected through only 2G/edge network. So I called their customer care and technical Staff they told me that "Airtel dont have 3G network of thier own in Pune, so they share Vodafon/Idea network for 3G" that's why my cell could not remain connected through 3G continuously. The network gets switching over between 2G and 3G.

now I have to again change my number that is a big head-ache.
