I had purchased an Airtel sim with all the proper documents and details in july. 3 months after the sim gets disabled due to document verification failure. When I called the help center I was informed that the sim was never registered on my name.

Then I approached the retailer. He told that there was some problem in the airtel's system and the verification would be re-done. 15-20 days later he asks for documents again. After giving the documents also nearly a month has passed and the number is not yet activated. Again on calling the help center I was informed that my number has been released and there is no way to get it re-registered.

This is the kind of service the leading telecom provider (Airtel) gives in India.
