SBI is actually a pain!

I got my SBI credit card closed approx two years back..i had made the payments of which by chance have a receipt too, and i received the letter from the bank as well of the closure... but now after 2 years i am receiving a call from the bank that i need to pay my dues... HELLLLLO SBI my card was closed... I am not interested in these credit cards any more... my mistake is... that unfortunately, due to relocation i had in my job i have misplaced the letter and hence have no proof to show them... which i guess anyone would intentionally also put the letter in garbage, if you are sure that the account is no long in use.

But who knew that devil will rise again from the ashes... fed up... please help. What should one do in such cases... pay the negotiated amount once again or fight... BUT who knows... they can come back after four years saying that you have to pay your dues.
