I have been staying in Pune for last 8 Years at Nigdi, Pradhikaran. Over the Years, I have realized the need of a Safety Locker for keeping the valuable items. I have been trying to avail the facility from any Nationalized bank for last 2 years; But I could not locate any bank in my Locality. Finally, One Month back, my Wife got information about availibility of Lockers at CBI, Akurdi Branch.

On Day#1; the CBI Employee provided me the steps to get the Locker. What was also said to me is; I have to take a FD of 50, 000 from the Bank.

Q1: Is it a Mandatory requirement to take a Investment to avail the Locker Facility?

Q2: Why is it not Published or Shared with the General Public?

Q3: Does it mean, Safety Lockers are not for Lower Middle Class folks?

After lot of discussion, we decided to open an account with CBI and setup a FD of 50, 000.

On Day#2; Account Opening was Done; the CBI Employee who handles Lockers was unavailable, so we had to defer the FD and Locker facility by a week.

On Day#3; The Conditions to avail the Locker Facility has completely changed; I was asked to pay 3 Years Rent in advance 25K Investment in FD 25K Investment in LIC. I said that I already have LIC policies and if there are alternatives. The CBI Employee said; the policy has changed and it is Mandatory and has to be taken from his referenced LIC Agent.

I was frustrated; we came back home and decided to close the account with CBI.

Q4: Is there any Guideline document on pre-requisites for availing the Locker facility?

Can anyone help in this matter? I am not able to take help from anyone.
