Hidden Charges on Unused Accounts

Dear Advertiser,

I had a HSBC salary account opened in 2008 which i used only for a month, after which my company changed to HDFC .I have been receiving statements for 15 paise for year or so. I sent them a letter to close my account.

Shocking to get a letter the next week which had some charges for non maintainance of quarterly balance for the last two years coming up to 5, 000.with no prior intimation either.

This is gross cheating, and such a reputed Bank should desist from doing such things.

Is this how they are making money. Even a money lender will tell how much interest he is going to amass.

Middle class salaried people are harassed by such Banks on such hidden charges, finance charges etc. These International Banks have several billions of Rupees in various currencies, but they act like money lenders sometimes even for 15 paise
