Regarding Receipt

I have to pay insurance premium due for one of my relative. When i approached a branch located at Pollachi (Coimbatore), they said only cheque can be accepted. But the problem is they are not providing any acknowledgement (receipt) for acceptance of cheque. I would like to know the reason for this.
