Delivery of indane gas cylinde

We have indane gas cylinder at home. Since my mother was out of station we are not using the cylinder much. If we are not buying cylinder for more than 6 months gap, will our registration of our indane gas be cut??? The agency says that they will cancel our cylinder permanently. Kindly clarify this.
