No show of taxi: Booking # AG2A92458

I booked a Meru taxi (Booking Ref # AG2A92458) to leave Mantri Paradise at 8:15am on 4 Dec 09 to Cessna Business Park to conduct a workshop at Cisco. The booking was done 23 hours in advance and I got email as well as SMS confirmation of my booking. The confirmation message said that I would get the taxi particulars half an hour prior to departure. On the morning of 4th December, I waited till 7:50 am and called Meru cabs on 44224422. I was told ‘It is unfortunate that we don’t have a cab to send you now’.
I felt very upset and frustrated as I had a need to be in time for the workshop and planned to utilize the one hour travel time in last minute preparation for the workshop. Now I have a need to see how we can prevent other customers facing similar disappointment and frustrations and taxi services honor confirmed bookings.
I request that the consumer forum take up the case not only with Meru on this specific instance but also explore how taxi services could be made responsible to honor confirmed bookings. I would be happy when an essential service like a taxi could be ‘counted on’.
