Lost baggage

I, Dinu Thomas Thekkuden, holder of Indian passport No. G9830243, have travelled vide ticket No. IX3103337 by flight IX 419 from Kochi to Abu Dhabi on 9th May but on arrival at Abu Dhabi Airport, I found my baggage was lost. Tag No. AI741109

I obtained Property Irregularity Report from the Airport Authority having complaint file No. AUHAI111368/09may10 and they have asked me to check next day.

When I checked next day there was no information. The second day I came to know from the Abu Dhabi Airport authority that my bag was sent to Dubai from Kochi instead of Abu Dhabi. And they have explained that the mistake was made by the check-in counter personnel at Kochi Airport since they have sticked my tag to the baggage of Dubai Traveller and vice versa.

I requested to bring the baggage from Dubai to Abu Dhabi but refused because there is no direct flight from Dubai to Abu Dhabi. As per their system, this baggage will send to Kochi then to Abu Dhabi which may take 10 to 15 days time.

Alternatively, I should go to Dubai and collect from Dubai Airport. In order to avoid delay. I was forced to go to Dubai to collect my bag travelling 300 km spending taxi fare Dhs.600.00 to and fro.

When I collected the bag from Dubai, I found my clothe and study books damaged due to spoilage of the food items. If I received my baggage the same day, I can avoid my clothes and study books damaged which costs Indian Rs.4300/- (Dhs.360/-) and time to travel.

Due to the irresponsibility and carelessness of the Air India Staff, we lost totalling Dhs.960/- (Dhs.600/- Dhs.360/-) and effort.

I hereby lodge my claim for Dhs.960/- from Air India Express authority, Please forward my claim to their legal authority as soon as possible.
