Why Cancellation fee so high

Hi,

May be its just piece of information I am missing but in the age of electronic booking where I book my air ticket myself in internet and there is no processing on that from the airline companies, why a good amount of 750/ passenger is deducted if I cancel an air ticket.

This is huge amount when the air fares are as low as 2400. its almost 33%.

there should be a Law enforced on the airlines.

Please look into this matter
