Consumes more memory

Myself prajwal a.b.am using the broadband internet connection from BSNL. my plan is rural 150 per month tariff with 1GB free download. The problem with ma user account is that the memory is been consumed more than expected or more than its supposed to consume. For example if i use only orkut, but also it consumes lots of memory in terms of MB even if i use for a short duration of time as if like half an hour. Is the problem with ma windows XP or anything else.i need a good suggestion.
