Not workiing many application

I am the user of hcl computer having specification: core 2 duo, 2GB ram, nvidia 512MB graphic card, 320GBhard disk, windows xp which i brought in September. I have problem is that many games and softwares are not working in my pc even same application copied from my pc works on othres dual core pc. i have quick heal antivirus which i daily updated and i also almost 3 times formated my whole pc but it does not help to run those applications such as Doom (13 MB), call of duty, c, etc. what will i do?
