Sensor malfunctioned

Hi,

I have a Canon 5D, oof late it has developed a problem with the sensor and of no fault of mine... I showed it to the Canon Service Center here and they say they have to replace the sensor assembly completely. It has been just two years that I bought the camera and now i have to pay half the price for replacing the sensor.

How can a professional camera like 5D, be so fragile that it gets damaged on its own.

Would be very grateful if you could guide me on this as to what is to be done.
