No resolution of refund on missed faulty check issue

I had sent the defective I PAD within 3 working days. They asked to give name and bank details accurately. After follow up I received a faded cheque with xeroxed signature and aparantly misspelled name on teh printed chque.
Hearing that they are not ethical, I was dissapointed and I misplaced the so called cheque.
Now they want chq to be returned and do not indicate any recourse. I want my refund
