Brief recital
Nokia E72 is till today is the premier business phone in India till date
That I had purchased a Nokia E72 – 1T. Brown (IMEI : 355239035272017) for Rs. 21, 779 as per enclosed bill.
That sometime in September or thereabout I noticed strange lines on the display.
I took the same to the Nokia service centre Foneworld at Borivali since I reside in Mumbai.
They informed me that they do not have the display for Nokia E72 and that I should call them and
after confirming bring it in for servicing as it was in warranty.
I kept calling twice a week probably after one and a half month finally on 2nd of October they informed me that I could bring the Phone to them for servicing.
Which was given to them on 02/10, Job Sheet No. 571504867/101002/45 attached.
They phone was for the first time opened at Foneworld.
They informed me that the display could not be done here and they had to send the same to Head office Bangalore.
And I would get it back in about 15 days.
A standby phone was neither offered nor was given one thereby compelling me to buy a second phone as it is not possible to be without your mobile phone.
After about 15 days I got a call from Mr. Lakhani and to my shock and surprise he said Bangalore had refused to replace it as the hand set is out of warranty
Mr. Lakhani is fully aware that the phone was first time opened at his very service centre.
I asked him to get me the same in writing which he said he was unable to get and gave me help line no. 08030303838.
I called the helpline which again confirmed what Mr. Lakhani was saying and they also refused to give anything in writing.
However Mr. Lakhani had offered to repair the phone if I paid for it which is holding a customer to ransom.
Now the situation is that the phone is in warranty it has not been tempered with except your service centre and damage caused is between transit to and from Mumbai’s service centre and Head office service centre.
Now having given to understand that the phone is damaged tempered etc in no circumstances will I take back this phone.
I require a replacement by a new handset.
Nokia is exploiting the people of India by getting cheap substandard phones form China selling them and then evading warranty.
We buy a phone with a bill just to take advantage of warranty the price of this in the grey market would have been about Rs. 3000 cheaper.
That they refuse to let me know the provision under which the warranty is void
