Inappropriate messages from an unknown numbe

I have been receiving inappropriate messages from an unknown number for the past few months. I have blocked the caller from calling but could not figure out how to block his messages. Later, i found out that there is absolutely no way to block messages. The messages are frightening. They are filled with inappropriate language and threats. It has been a very long time and im still suffering with this terrible problem. Desperate for a solution. Would be very glad if you could help me get rid of this problem.
