I was provided with false information before applying for Airtel Broadband connection, which led to a lot of inconvinience.

Here is the letter I mailed to Airtel's customer care, I hope this will suffice:

Since I have not been able to reach customer care at 08044444121 I am mailing the customer care.

Hi,

I am an employee of one the most prestigious IT Giants in India, Wipro Technologies. Recently I was contacted by one of the agents of Airtel, Mr. Ananda Ejc, regarding Airtel Broadband connection. He produced a brochure and explained me several Broadband plans. Since I have a busy schedule I asked him to explain me all the aspects of the plans available. I got interested in one of the plans called “Impatience 1299”. According to Ananda the plan consisted of,

1. Rs. 1299 as the fare for 2 Mbps internet Broadband speed.

2. Unlimited download limit.

3. 10.5% VAT.

4. Rs. 250 as installation charges.

Since the plan was impressive and after confirming with his supervisor, Mr. Veeranna, on phone I was assured that the plan explained was correct. So I paid the charges (Rs. 250) and received a customer copy of the receipt (SEF No.: 0139776).

The next day Engineers arrived at my home and since I was at my office my roommate dealt with the installation formalities. During the installation I was informed that the plan is for 1Mbps internet speed and I have to pay Rs. 500 for the 2 Mbps connection. Since I was at the office I was contacted by the engineer at location and I was informed of the same. This was the first time when I was provided wrong information by the Airtel agent. After speaking with Ananda’s supervisor (Mr. Veeranna), who is an Airtel employee, and with the customer care executive (by dialing 121 on Airtel phone) I was informed that once I have paid Rs. 250 my plan will be changed to 2 Mbps internet speed. Since I had one more Airtel Broadband connection I decided to use this connection until the problem is resolved. I paid Rs. 250 to Mr. Ananda the very next day but after that day I have neither heard from the agent or have received the receipt for Rs. 250.

Note: I am still getting 1 Mbps internet connection.

The latest information I received from the customer care was that the 2 Mbps speed is only until I have download 20 Gb and after that the speed gets reduced to 256 Kbps with unlimited download limit. This information was not provided to me when I enquired about the plan.

I have spent Rs. 500 and have disconnected the old connection (with which I was very satisfied) and still getting 1 Mbps speed.

Now my question is,

1. How are the agents recruited by Airtel?

2. Who recruits such incompetent candidates?

3. Why the customers are provided insufficient information?

4. Why do I have to suffer for this incompetence?

5. Is it worth to spend my precious working hours and raise a concern?

6. My business has suffered from this incident and since my part time business is online, who will pay for my losses?

7. Because of this incident my relationship with my business partners has suffered, who will normalize this relationship?

My business is suffering because now I have to get the plan changed again, since my internet usage exceeds 20GB within 10 day. Have I known about this plan earlier, I would have not opted for it, not because it is a bad plan, in fact it is a great plan, but not appropriate to type of usage we have.

I would like Airtel to pay for my losses and frustration caused due to this incident, which is approximately Rs. 80, 000 (Eighty thousand only).

I request you to kindly log a ticket and provide me with the ticket no.
