Gift voucher not honoured

I was trying to book perfumes worth Rs. 3500 on 10-05-11 between 6pm to 7.30pm, but I kept on getting error message that the voucher code given to me NBTRASP1 was not valid. I emailed to tradus and got a reply saying that "We regret to inform you that due to overwhelming response on this promotion we have run out of stock and had to discontinue the promotional vouchers mailed to you".

Why did tradus send the vouchers if they did not have the capacity to honour them?
