Non-availability of Email IDs of corporates/MNCs and bureaucrats-vivis-UID Scheme

In the very backdrop of the hype created for the UID Scheme, it is very strange that the e-mail IDs of the bureaucrats should not be available with the public even in 2010. Even stranger is the fact that, while India’s union ministers’ email addreesses are available in the public domain, the contact e-mail addresses of smaller and lower bureaucrats are not available-and, even if they are, the addresses are non-functional or bogus. For instance, any mail sent to the official email ID of the DM of for a most important and sensitive district of West Bengal, viz., HOWRAH, immediately bounces back! The West Bengal govt. is not bothered about these ‘petty matters’ though.

No wonder, the MNCs (including Banks in the private sector) plundering the country and the entire Corporate sector in India, including the holier-than-thou TATAs, now caught in the ill-effects of the in the Radia-radiation, with impunity continue to debar their customers from accessing them through e-mails, by never mentioning their contact e-mail IDs in their packages, communications, invoices/bills, product literature, &c., despite our Consumer Protection Act and a sprawling union ministry purportedly dealing with consumer affairs.

So much for transparency in governance!
