I paid for a broadband scheme from Airtel in October and I was entitled to broadband services for one year. I paid in advance and no other payments were to be made. From the very next month, they started sending me bills and harassing me over the phone saying my bills haven't been paid and they were going to cut off my connection. Imagine my shock the next month when they said I owed them nearly Rs 10, 000!

What has happened is this: they have registered two numbers to my address. I didn't ask for it - I wanted only one connection and paid for it with the advance. However, the bills that come to me come from another account number - 7000378193 - not mine and every day, I get calls from the airtel people in Bombay and Pune saying that I have not paid my dues. I have paid till next October so if they have registered a number wrongly to my address, it is their fault, not mine. The people who call are either so stupid they cannot understand or they've been told to harass me, thinking I will pay.

All I have asked them to do is this: if there is an account and number like that, why don't they call and find out who it belongs to? I've told them it isn't mine. Or is this some kind of fraud Airtel is perpetrating to collect more money? Either way, it sucks!
