Optical Unit

The optical unit of my canon Digital Camera power shot A460 recently got defective just after warranty period of 2 years. The repair cost of the same is Rs 1868.00 by the camera service centre. They will replace the defective parts but will not give any warranty for the replaced parts. Only 1 month service warranty i.e labour charge will be free for 1 month. If after paying Rs 1868.00the replaced parts again fails in day or two the company will not be responsible. Can a brand like canon refuse to give any warranty for the spare parts when the same is covered during the warranty period of the camera.

What is the average life of a Digital camera.? What is the meaning of Brand?
