Selling of Stale Food

I purchased cup piza from 'Esteem Retail - OAK Yard' a Nilgiris franchisee in Jayanagar 9th block (Bill number 614501003804 dt 12th Sep'09).

When my kid was consuming the piza, it was found stale and was smelling foul. The left over piece of the piza was taken to the shop and was shown to the shop incharge. A complaint was registered (with Complaint no 2024 dt 12th Sep'09 at 6.30 pm) in the shop. When the manager's number was asked, wrong number (9740017912) was given by the shop incharge. This is amounting to providing wrong information to the customer and concealing facts from reaching the responsible people in the organization.

Selling stale food products is nothing less than cheating the customers, putting customers to hardships and exposing the customers to a higher risk of health. More over not having a system that will avoid stale food being sold in retail shops like 'Nilgiris' is surprising. Not having the date of manufacturing or the 'best before date' displayed on the product or on the display is also violation of the consumer rights.

Since consumer of such food products are kids, it is dangerous to the health of the kids to consume stale food. Request your office to ensure that appropriate action is taken to ensure that stale / spoiled food items are not sold.
