Harrassment by auto drivers

Hi,

It has been a real pain traveling in auto in Chennai. While most part of the country has meter which is a compulsion, this has never been seen in Chennai. When asked about meter, they have only one excuse. Its not working and in Chennai meter is not used. When any fixed rate is agreed (which is very high), still on reaching the destination, they demand more. Especially when we have no change and expect them to return the change. When denied, they start shouting. Since, the outsiders are not able to cope with the local language, we try to manage as far as possible. But when it comes to auto drivers, they simply start shouting and generally have support from the other nearby standing auto drivers. At times, it seems a threat not to comply to his demands. The bus services are good but still auto is often needed. I am sure this would not be the first complain regarding auto drivers but please pay heed to this complaint and help common people avail this service with ease and comfort.
