Egarding stop my services even paid before

I m using idea phone this number from last 12 years when company name was at&t. now i went abroad for 9 month for visit family. when i retrun my phone services are terminated because i was not using them. my close friend regulary recharge my sim card. it was very imporatant for me because i was using these phone from last 12 years. just nine months they might monitor that these phone is not used by customer so they stop service. do i need to be post paid customer even i m not in india.? even sim card pay regularly so i will going for court in about after one month.
