IIFA
No bill given

Miscellaneous

There is a store named IIFA situated in Sector 17, Mansarovar Building, Near McDonalds, Vashi, Navi Mumbai that sells general merchandise, gifts, electronic goods, etc.

I purchased mementos worth more than Rs. 5500 from the shop on 26th April. They gave me an "Estimate" instead of a bill.

When I asked them why I was not given a bill, they said that the estimate is the bill & that's what they provide to all customers.

Isn't it compulsory under law to give a pucca bill/invoice to a customer on purchase of any item, especially when the customer is demanding it himself/herself.

Is this a method of tax evasion?
