Indian election voter's id card
PASSPORT NOT A VALID DOCUMENT FOR APPLYING VOTER'S ID CARD

This has reference to my wife, Lakshmi Priya, who is residing at "Pottayil House", Temple Road South, Cheranellore, Via Edapally, Cochin-682034. ph 0484-2433233 application for indian electionvoter'd identity card.

As per the registration in NOV08 she was asked to be present in village office at Chittoor, cochin of cheranellore panchayat on 06.12.2008. She was having passport as a valid document to show that she is residing at the above said address. Unfortunately the village officer rejected the application and asked her to bring any other valid id card such as ration card or license. Since she doesnt not possess those id's and being a passport a valid identity document as per indian laws. we would like to know why such an instance has happened. I am an NRI and not in a position to come to india and check what exactly has happened. if a severe negligence has happened with the village officer a strict action to be taken.
