If the railways cannot operate a web site then theyshould look at outsourcing the same to a private operator.
The situation is so pathetic... For the last 3 and a half hours I have been trying to book a ticket and just when you have completed all the details they say service not available and the page goes blank
Also when one books on an I ticket these guys just take you for a ride (especially on wait listed tickets that dont get confirmed). The trains usually leave post 8 pm and then you are left running from pillar to post to get the i ticket cancelled and money refunded. Most of the people in the stations do not even know the process. Many a times we lose our money because the effort behind going to the station to drop the TDR etc is time consuming and irritating.
I think the railways should provide for e cancelling of all tickets (both I- ticket as well as e ticket on the net). If e- tickets can be cancelled on the internet then why not I- tickets???
