Nagpur east scooter parking stand contract awarding and its operation is a classical example how Indian railways is working? Railways have started giving contracts of its various utilities since the rule of Hon. Shri Lalu Prasad Yadav. There are boon & banes of it.

This year in the month of May the railways award contract. The contractor took hefty amount towards giving monthly parking pass. He also took Rs.450/- from me although I am having similar pass since long. This incidence was immediately reported by SMS to no.9004411111, a central railway feedback number displayed on its internet site. No money receipts are given from contractor. One fine morning the contractor left the contract. I personally gave a written complaint to pivot section at DRM central railway office at Nagpur. No action/ communication in this regard by railways.

Later railway starts deploying its own staff. Then another contractor came. He start taking Rs.150/- per month as monthly parking charges. No money receipts. When we insisted for the rate prescribed by railways his behavior was adamant. The indicators were damaged/ petrol was stolen. Again complaint to Indian railways, no action/communication in this regard.

On 31/10, before expiry of contract the contractor painted on board showing monthly rate for parking as Rs.120/-, however he was collecting Rs.150/-. Again complaint was made, no reply. The contractor took extra Rs.30/- per person from about 1500 nos.

Again new contractor came from 18/11, he started charging @ Rs 5/-. For 6 hrs. monthly pass may be from 1st December. Rates?

Why Indian railways want contractors to run its parking? What about complaints? Why no money receipts/ details of contract/ contractor with name of responsible railway authority displayed. Why no parking rates are displayed? The behavior of contractors towards commuter is not proper. There is no railway authority to look after it. I have requested DRM CR with various suggestions. No communications.

There seems a linkage between contractor & railways officials. No vigilance action. Also any mail to &- .railnet.gov.in generates failure report after 1 – 2 days. Only railways is interested in booking profit rather than passenger amenities/security. Railways should seek alternative solutions. Railways should not forgotten it’s a national service.
