CHEETING, NON REFUND OF MONEY

Subject: Cheating of Public by India Today Book Club.

Dear Sir,

It is to bring to your kind knowledge that the so said, prestige India Today Book Club is playing a game of cheating with large population.

A telephone comes from a person saying that he is speaking from India Today Book Club. He states that there is a Lucky Draw & my name has appeared amongst 400 lucky persons. I have to deposit Rs.3198/- by credit card & I shall get a packet entitling me to two Air Ticket & Two night there days stay in 5 star Hotel anywhere in the country in 12 months with all meals paid. I doubted such an offer & hence asked him for some other numbers of India Today Book Club. He gave me Mob. No.09716349027. But I insisted on some landline number. He gave me India Today Customer Care No. 011-40502424 which was genuine.

I talked to those numbers & more or less, they repeated same thing. They said, yes my name is in the draw. I said I can’t alone go & hence not interested. They informed me that there are two three persons not interested to avail this offer & hence those packets can be diverted to them.

Money of 3 persons (each Rs.3198/-) was paid by credit card another friends paid Rs 2500 or so by their credit card. I came to know that money was credited to Living Media India Ltd., Delhi.

I received the packet on 9.10.09 containing 12 books with 3 CD. No mention about Air-ticket & stay in the hotel was there. Receipt from Living Media. Tel No 011-40502424.

The Britannica Enclopedia C.D.S.No. D8NA1AAAA2347649 costing Rs.547.75/- as per their bill is infected with virus & corrupted & hence can’t be downloaded.

I would like you to depute your reporter to talk to us in detail, see the C.D. ECT. & take the matter urgently to stop this practice.

There are about 253 Web pages complaints against India Today Book Club on the net (Google- India Book Club complaints).
