Exorbitant demand by auto rickshaw drivers in tamilnadu

Sir/Madam,

In Tamilnadu, the auto rickshaw drivers do not ply on meters and demand as they like.

While the culture of plying on meter itself is yet to be implemented by stern action, the Government revised the meter as if they abide by that. This paved way for them to increase the rate demanded, further.

The newspaper reports and complaints from users on this issue have never evoked any response from the powers-that-be. On the other hand, actions are being taken to implement various welfare measures for the auto-drivers. This is to be done only after they honour the GO of Govt. on fare meter.

IF AT ALL THERE IS ANY SOUL ON THIS EARTH WHO CAN SOLVE THIS MAJOR CONSUMER PROBLEM TO ENSURE THAT AUTOS PLY ONLY ON METER-FARE, IT IS ONLY THE INDIAN CONSUMER FORUM. ONLY THEN CAN IT BE SAID THAT THE "consumer is king"

I only hope that whatever action is needed to solve this issue will be taken with full earnest and not a reply that it is a state subject or a political issue or that it has been referred to the concerned Secretary.
