A MONSTER IN DISGUISE

Friends,

Once, a few weeks back, when there was violent fluctuation in stock exchange, I typed sensex (or something similiar) on my cellphone to know the latest position, and sent it to 58888.And then started my nightmare.

I started receiving the following messages.

Just go thru these and feel my agony.

''Thanks for using Airtel services. Search your dream job. sell/buy property http:/live.airtel world.com/cmsv3/wap? prid=2878169 - From 64611001''. This is the massege I am receiving daily without fail during the odd hours of the day. Following is the detail for a period for which I kept the record.

On 1.05.08&-7.51 P.M. 10.37 P.M.

On 2.05.08&-12.51 A.M. 4.59 A.M. 7.12 A.M. 4.28 P.M. 5.01 P.M. 8.21 P.M. 10.45 P.M. 11.09 P.M. 3.21 A.M. 3.21 A.M.

On 02.05.08 afternoon I went to Airtel's local office to lodge my protest. The gentle man advised me to message ''Start DND'' and send it to 121. I did so there itself. The return message showed that the service was already active since 2007. Even after sending this sms, I kept on receiving the messages on my cell. I did not keep the record for few days. But then messages reduced and I started getting this (The same one) once in 24 hours un-interrupted, but during odd hours. Just look at this.

On 15.05.08 at 4.36 A.M. on 16.05.08 at 4.27.A.M. on 17.05.08 at 4.41. A.M. on 18.05.08 at 4.12 A.M. on19.05.08 at 3.15 A.M. on 20.05.08 at 3.37 A.M. on 21.05.08 at 3.31 A.m. on 22.05.08 at 3.39 A.M. on 23.05.08 at 4.15 A.M. on 24.05.08 at 4.15 A.M. on 26.05.08 at 3.05 A.M.

For the last six days I have been lodging complaint, daily- without fail, at nodal.ncr@airtel.in and appellate.ncr@airtel.in, the sites, advised by Bharti Airtel, to lodge complaints. To my surprise, I did not get a single reply to my six mails. Yes I did get auto-replies generated by system which only thanked me for writing them and soon my complaint shall be attended to. On 24.05.08 10.44 A.M. I rang the Nodal officer at 011-41614777, but nobody picked up the phone.

I request the readers to kindly suggest what can I do to stop getting this message, or what are my rights to initiate some sort of action against the giant.

I COMPLAINED TO AIRTEL AND SUBSIQUENTLY CAME TO KNOW THAT IT WAS NOT AIRTEL WHO WAS SENDING THESE MESSAGES TO ME, BUT IT WAS 58888 WHO WAS SENDING THESE MESSAGES TO ME. THEY EVENTUALLY DE-ACTIVATED THE SERVICE AND NOW I AM NOT RECEIVING THE MESSAGES.

I APPOLOGISE TO AIRTEL FOR INCONVENIENCE CAUSED TO THEM AND WISH TO CONVEY MY ANGER TO THE BASTERDS MANAGING 58888 TO REJIG THERE SEVICES, OTHERWISE THEY ARE DESTINED TO GO TO HELL. AND IF THEY REFUSE TO IMPROVE UPON, I SAHLL BE CONSTRAINED TO CALL THEM MOTHER FUCK... S
