Lost Mobile

Dear Sir,

I had brought a Brand New Motorola Razr v8 from a authorised dealer in New delhi India. But unfortunately it was stolen just 10 days after using it. I have been trying to find out how could i trace the mobile. I have heard that the lost mobile could be traced if we have the IMEI number with us. I have the IMEI number with me. I had tried contacting the motorola india persons through emails but they showed their incapability to trace it. If Nokia can do that. I think motorola t to can do that. I have tried registering the police complaint in the DCP office of Vasant Vihar. They took written complaint from my end and gave me a acknowledgment for the same, but did not lodge a FIR saying that it is very rare to find such a device once it is lost. I think this is not the case, the mobiles are tracable once we have the IMEI number. Also the police told me that it is possible to repalce the IMEI number of mobile. I dont think so. I think they are making fool of me. Kindly suggest me what to do.
