Dear Sir,
Recently I traveled between Nagpur, Sampark Kranti Express, Train No.2707, departure 02.20 on 14th March in 2nd AC Coach, PNR NO.114-0529921, with my wife. At the Nagpur station, at 02.00am there was no Coolie available, after I saw one I told him to take my luggage from Platform no.1 to platform no.03 and to board in Sampark Kranti Express. I was having one suit case weight 18 kg, another suitcase weight 14 kg, and two average hand bags having weight of 5 kg each.
The coolie demanded Rs.150 from me, and due to no other option available at that time and also myself was operated recently and due to this restricted to lift the weight, I had paid Rs.100.00, do you think this is a reasonable amount he has charged from me.
Although at some railway station charges are mentioned, even than they do not pickup the luggage till passengers agrees to there abnormal demands, moreover if you had a negotiation with one particular coolie, than even if others are available no other coolie will pick your luggage, compelling us to agree to their unreasonable demand.
I request you through this complaint that this type of unreasonable demands are checked with proper display of boards whom to contact even in night hours with their office telephone nos and mobile nos. Strict action should be taken if harrasment is found. Passenger always want to pay if the demand is reasonable.
Suggestion: Railway station, having population more than 1 Lac, on every platform one prepaid booth is introduced, if require you can charge certain percentage for covering the cost of booth, the passenger can visit the booth with coolie and amount is deposited at the counter and receipt is taken, this receipt passenger can handover to the coolie after luggage is kept at the desired place. This booth system will be similar to the booth system provided at Railway Stations for Taxi.
