Cell gat switched off automatically

My nokia 2100 set has crossed a life of 4 years. recently it developed a problem. The set gets switched off automatically (particularly while travelling by a vehicle causing jerks). The battery, however, holds charge for suficient length of time. How can I rectify the problem?
