Battary getting exhausted in 24 Hrs

I purchased the above mentioned model of Nokia (2310) on 12-06-07 from Idea Mobile Communication Butler Plaza Bareilly (UP) India. for the last 4-5 months the set was giving the problem of 'Restart' and the response of commond was very slow. So on 3rd April I contected your Care Centre at Bareilly itself. They uploaded/upgraded its software, but after that the above said full charged battary of the set is getting exhausted in less than 24 hrs. Is it a Software problem or battary problem? In fact as I am a University professor so I dont have time to use either its FM or to send frequent SMSs. The power is only used for conversations and that to not more than 25 -30 minuts a day.

Pls furnish the appropriate advice so that I will be in a position to over come the problem.
