Recharge not successful

Dear Sir/Madam,
I have a life-time airtel pre-paid connection (9810234818) since 2001. My validity expired on 17th Nov. 2009 and presently I am in 15 days' grace period. I have been trying to re-charge my connection since 18th Nov through local Airtel booth. Every time they are re-charging my account a msg is being flashed back on my mobile stating - "Recharge not successful". Repeated attempts have been made in consultation with your help line and they say that 'technical upgradation is in progress & recharge would be done soon'. But my ougoing/incoming calls remain disrupted since 18th Nov. I want to continue with the above pre-paid mobile No. 9810234818. Please help resolving the problem imdtly as I have an account balance of Rs.270-60.
