Olympus Digital Camera ( SP-500UZ)
Over-estimate Repair Charges & Untrained Staff in India

I found that Olympus has the pathetic service support in India. I approached the service center who were technically not competent. When I asked for the repair charges they explained me that your camera costs 26000 Rs in India and service repair charges are 7000. (Brand new was available at 12500 Rs at rediff.com). I did not find the satisfactory response from Olympus and had to throw my camera in Junk.

The service centre in Delhi i.e. Visiion Enterprise for digital cameras are befooling people and giving overestimate inspite of illiterate technical staff. They gave me estimate of Rs 7000 just because they think my Camera Cost in Indian Market is 26000 (in fact it is 12500 Rs in India) which shows the sick mentality who are damaging the image of Olympus. Being technically involved with Samsung, I do understand the technicalities and not satisfied with their explanation. Please intervene to provide us the best facility.

Thank you for your reply and giving us the information.

It is our understanding that our well-trained technicians are

capable of diagnosing and repairing our products.

We are unable to give you any definite comments whether the repair

estimate Rs7000 is over-estimated or not without having the camera

for inspection. But, that is not necessarily too much cost

depending on a broken unit. In addition, repair cost is not decided

by sales price.
