Toll Gate Tariff

Hello Sir,

Recent past i travelled by bus from Nayadupet (Nellore Dist) to Nellore. The bus charges were Rs. 49 /-, out of which Rs. 6/- was toll gate charges with 2 toll gates in between. It comes up to 12% of bus fare. I had the discussion with bus conductor and he shared that he pays around Rs. 2000 /- as toll gate charges for to-fro travel between Tirupati and Vijayawada.

So, Rs. 3/- per person per toll gate. If bus is full with 50 people in the bus, indirectly for each bus toll gate charges would Rs. 150/- per toll gate.

I believe for heavy truck toll gate charges are Rs. 50 /-. Why not the same applied to RTC buses, let the charges be collected per bus instead of per ticket. It is a big burden for common man who travels every day in bus between these towns.

Based on the above information if we calculate real toll gate charges RTC is paying is huge amount with so many buses travelling every day. Then no doubt RTC makes losses to some % because of this. Another major concern is, so much money going to private international company from common people...

Please look into this issue and re-validate the related policies.
