Misbehaviour of Conductor of AC Bus Route No. A1

Sir,

I had boarded the AC bus Route no. A1, plying between Chennai Central and Thiurvanmiyur at Central Station on 16.05.2010 at about 8.00 AM. There were a lot passengers besides me but the bus was not full to its capacity. The Crew members were waiting for more passengers. The driver and conductor got off the bus closing the automatic door. In the meantime two ordinary A1 buses left for Thiruvanmiyur but since the doors were locked and the crew members were not in the vicinity passengers who wanted to get out of the bus could not do so and had to wait for the crew members. Finally the crew members came to bus at about 8.15 AM. When asked why they are not departing despite two buses of the same having departed for their destination the conductor retorted that the bus will depart at the schedule time of 8.15 AM. During the course of the conversation he went to the extent of asking me get out of the bus if I could not wait. Further he said " AC busle ukkanththu ivvalu pesalama".

The conductor should bear in mind that the very purpose of any business is its customer and he had no business to ask me get out of the bus. So what if we sit in AC bus should we keep mum if we are not able to get out of bus because of their indifferent attitude of closing the doors and bolting away and keeping the passengers at ransom. This act of the crew members needs to be addressed and misbehavior with passengers should be reprimanded.

I would rather suggest the MTC authorities to display the departure time of the bus inside the bus as well outside it. This can be done because now the scrolling marque system is used to display the route. welcoming the passenger and thanking the passenger for their patronage.

Had the departure time been displayed the entire fiasco would not have occurred. Will the authorities concerned take action?
