Flat in multi storey building
Dripping / Water Seepage during monsoon

Sir,

We had purchased a flat from a builder in the year 2009. During the first monsoon when it started raining heavily, there was water dripping from the bedroom as well as the kitchen ceiling and walls became damp. We brought to the notice of the builders representative sitting at the site. They assured us that they will take care and stop the water seepage. Once the monsoon was over, they said the water seepage problem was sorted out and they even did touch up with silicon paint wherever the plaster / paint was affected.

During this monsoon, the same problem occurred - however, this time it was more serious with the water dripping from the same place in the bedroom, with the bathroom walls becoming damp as well as the kitchen walls becoming damp as well.

We again brought this to the builders men who were still at the site, they said they will take care of the problem, however, they wanted the rains to stop before they could solve the issue. Once again the rains have stopped and though they have done some work, we are not sure whether the problem has been sorted out. They are giving the verbal assurance that the problem has been rectified.

However, at a few places in the bedroom, the plaster has fallen from the ceiling as wel as the paint work has been badly affected at a number of places in the building due to the constant water seepage.

They are now saying that the cost of internal patch work / plastering / painting should be born by us as they have already borne a lot of cost for stopping the water seepage.

What are the remedies available to me?
